Illustration Friday: "Flight"

This is an old drawing re-vamped (not quite finished).

I drew it on construction paper (left over from the home made valentine I made for the hubby) and I must say that I loved the way the pastels and pencils worked. Very creamy but a bit too delicate and smudg-y. I'll have to search for some better paper with the same texture. There is something about this little girl I have always loved, maybe it's her pigtails, more likely it's the goofy grin and flip-flops. I think something is missing though, maybe she should be larger.......

does anyone have advice on a scanner? I tend to work on the large size and can only find teeny tiny affordable ones.

The contrast between the grey monochromatic background and your colored characters is great.
It's a contrast between an ordinary castrated life and something undefined, that you can only hope to find out about if you go through life without letting fear and dispappointment dominate your instincts and desires. Suddenly the wind of change may carry you to better places. Or just different places. Who knows if you don't try. But at least your life is not a deja-vu.

Gotta love the girl's face expression with her missing tooth. Only kids can laugh that openly when their front teeth are missing. Where are they? In Chicago? (just looking at those bldgs in the background).

For me your illustration works perfectly they way you have it now. It's already finished.
Cheers!!

This reminds me of the Talking Heads song "And She Was". I thought of this song for "Flight" but I chose another image (song) to sketch. I was very happy to see this :) Excellent!
