Goals
Now that the pud is back to her super-silly ways, it's time to concentrate on this illustrating for a living dream. These are the goals I am setting for myself in this next year:
1. Send out postcards every 3 months
2. Find new addresses for these postcards
3. Create a new drawing/painting every week, one that is at least good if not portfolio worthy.
4. Sketch daily.
5. Get an agent. (the more research I do, the more I see this as a necessary thing, I do not promote well. Why not have someone do it for me?)
6. Complete a few "real" illustrating gigs. I've had a few previous, but I really want to see one of my illustrations published.
7. Attend the SCBWI conference in New York in February.
8. Make more contacts with other illustrators. I love reading my colleagues daily dealings and asking them for advice or just to have someone understand why am I trying to do this.
9. Get linked. Okay, so I am not linked on any other illustrators sites. This is a bad thing, no? Do I suck that much? Am I doing something wrong? It's really hard to shut that voice up all the time. Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough.
10. Learn to juggle the whole mom and illustrator gigs. I'm learning, my studio is also the
pud's play space, I just want to learn how to do it better.
So, there are 10 things.
I am determined. This will happen. I believe in myself.

Great goals! In my experience ,linking goes both ways. Once you have some links on your page, I'm sure others will reciprocate! =o)
Good idea Roz, I'll have to add more links on my extras page. Or maybe I should add them here?
You can do it! I believe in you!!!
And Erin, Crystal and Peggie all told me last night (after looking at your site) that they think your work is AMAZING! Erin was especially inpressed. :-D
Sorry Courtney, I didn't notice your extras page. Yeah, maybe you should post them on the sidebar of your notebook page.
Sounds like a good set of goals..good luck with them.
As for linking, well I'm not an illustrator but you've been on my link list for a while so that's at least ooh 3 people extra a year who might see your link. lol
Thanks Charlie, I'll add you to my list too :) You've got some technical skills!
Great goals! Quite an inspiration. I hope you get some real gigs soon becauase your paintings are fabulous! I absolutely love them. And what an adorable little girl you have. Life is good, huh? :)
