Gone to Texas
The pud monkey and I are flying to Texas on Friday. My little sister is getting married and we're going down for two weeks to help in the festivities. That's right...two weeks, in Texas, in July. I miss my mom and sister and can't wait to spend time with them and let pud bond with them like she has my husband's family. However, just thinking about the heat makes me miserable. What's worse is that it is the tiny town I grew up in, not a cool place like Austin or a place with things to do like San Antonio. I'm not taking my watercolors but will take several pencils. Maybe this will give me a chance to sketch, maybe this will give me a chance to stretch creatively and appreciate the fact that I now live in a place that has actual seasons and the summer season is only two months versus eight. At least there will be good bar-be-que, mexican food and catfish......maybe this won't be so bad.
Oh, did I mention I will be flying alone with a 19 month old? I've stocked up on coloring books (sesame street), books (sesame street) , playdoh, a toothbrush and stickers. (couldn't find sesame street, so we have doggies and the muppet babies) I have flown alone with la pud several times, but now that she is highly mobile, I am a tad bit nervous. This is besides the fear that strikes me every time before I fly. I can never sleep the night before, worrying about possible mechanical or pilot error. Or weather, turbulence or the simple fact that we will be 30,0000 feet in the air with nothing put two jet engines holding us up. Not to mention security issues. But, alas, I love to travel and we must get around somehow and the prospect of a greyhound bus ride from Maryland to Texas just doesn't appeal to me. Wish us luck and a long nap.

Have a safe trip and doodle when you get time.
Hope everything goes smoothly for you
Good gravy. Texas in July? I went to college in San Antonio, but I left every summer...
which po-dunky town? I happen to be moving from Houston (rain anyone?) to Waco in the next two weeks.
Good luck with your travelling and doodling. You know what we always say, though. At least it's not August!
