Illustration Friday "Escape"

uber quick entry this week, spent too much time working on the gallery of terrror illo and a commision. ;)

Edna (Rapunzel's lesser known cousin) had waited long enough for her prince. After a quick hair-cut, she made her escape.

keeping the drawing simple and allowing the watercolors do their thing was perfect for this. it gives a light whimsical look which works with the story. this seems like a great intro to a very funny story. have you considered making it a kid's book. this could be a great card too, like those shoe box greetings.

Obviously uber quick! Poor Edna like her Cousin needs a hairdresser, but unlike Cuz she also needs a decent workout for that protuding butt and wimpy calf muscles! What is wrong with her hands – finding it a tad difficult holding the braid rope? All because you didn’t spend a little more time to draw the hands before the rope! That water colour sky looks more like a living room curtain and the German roofing slates needs a lot more attention because they would fall off if anyone stepped on them. ESPECIALLY IN HIGH HEELS! Firstly Edna shouldn’t have waited for a Prince before too old to be looked at, and secondly the frilly dress and heels won’t help. No one is going to BITE her };-}

Hi to Edna....she really looks like Grandma Edna.
Maybe she is going up to visit her cousin to tell her the prince is really not worth and to come on down.

I love the blue sky...it looks like she is way up there. That tree is just really tall I think. Edna looks like quite a "character"...what is in the bottom of her dress, maybe she stashed her pillow and some reading books.

Very cute! Love how you sketched this! =^..^=
Your entire blog is fun to read through!

So fun! I think I would have more fun hanging out with Edna than Rapunzal. At least she took matters into her own hands, instead of waiting for some dumb guy to fix everything! haha!

Dee - she can't even take the braid rope in her hands never lone 'matter'!

Thanks for the comments everyone. :)

Anonymous: Thanks for the bite. While scathing and a tad catty ;) your points are true. I will pay more attention to the hands on even my quickest submissions. Now go bite someone else. :P

As for the catty remarks, you handled that well. I was pissed and it's not even my art. I guess those that can't create criticize. ;)
