Fear
I sent off some of my illustrations to a few card companies that accept freelance submissions. Ellia had encouraged me to do this as had my sister-in-law, my husband and a few posts by my fellow i-friers. I dragged my feet for a long time . I do this a lot, and it makes no sense. Am I afraid of a form rejection letter? Of putting myself before people who make judgment calls about art everyday? Or is it just me, little ole me who has always been a little shy?
It doesn't matter now. I put my foot outside of the door and it feels good. No matter if I get a negative response or nothing, a step is a step.

Me three! I'm using you as a guide, you know. If you have the guts to do something, that makes me feel a teensier more confident about trying it myself. Good luck!
Courtney,
I'm so glad you sent them out! I just know you're going to develope a huge following once you're discovered. Your work is rare and unique..great colors and of course the humor is terrific. Soon you'll get someone interested and you'll be on a roll.
Courtney:
I TOTALLY relate to your feelings! Fear has been keeping me from seriously preparing my work for submission. I am very proud of you for having the courage to do so.
Look at it this way: if your work doesn't get chosen you are no worse off than the day before you submitted anything. In fact, you are farther ahead no matter what happens. You overcame fear. That in itself is a huge step. You are a step closer to achieving a goal.
Your art is so original. You have a unique style that is unlike anything else out there. It is colorful, funny, and fun to look at. You inspire others. I know that good things will come your way, because you are facing your fears.
I know what you mean. I'm the same way. I sent out one thing two years ago, got a letter saying they were no longer accepting submissions, and quit! Why? I do the work for fun anyway. Submitting it just is a step closer to getting paid to do what I love. Why not try?
I went out to buy this years book of publishers and have set it to be my goal. Now, I still haven't done anything. What is taking me so long?
I'm glad you took the step. Congradulations. Hope you hear good news soon.
