Finished flying frog fizzles (edited)

I have never done a painting for the Pud's room. I have struggled a few times. By struggled I mean thought about it, started a few sketches and given up. I become easily frazzled at my lack of skills when it comes to work for family. I suppose it's because of the way I feel about this crazy and cute wild monkey that I couldn't get anything out that is good enough.

However, I was inspired by the flying frog I posted yesterday. I have a thing for frogs (and elephants) and especially flying frogs. I even attempted to write a story about a flying frog. I hope to polish it one day because at present, it sucks.

Anyway, back to the story at hand. I created a flying frog with a trumpet for my baby shower invitations. So, I thought this would be the perfect piece to re-create for her room. And I did. Not only did I decide to jump in and just do it, but I decided to try acrylic for the first time since one failed attempt in college. And..I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think I might try to add more color and details in the yellow, the hearts, the horn and um, the frog too. But for now, here it is, the first piece of art I created just for the Pud.

Now I want to paint a monkey and an elephant. Maybe after we move.

That is a whole other post.

After staring at the painting for a bit and wondering why I was so disappointed it hit me. I should do the background like one of my watercolors backgrounds. Duh.

So after a bit of tweaking, here you go. I am much more pleased with this one.

Wow, Courtners, I can see a huge difference between the two. The first, while very cute in its own right, has a flatter matter to it compared to the second piece. the second one jumps off the page and is filled with a lot of vibrancy. I think your personal energy radiates from this piece and has a wonderful dynamic to it. Well done on the acylics front, too - looks great!!!!
